Now, obviously, it’s practically a trope that protagonists in RPG’s spend way too much time rescuing cats stuck up trees when they’re supposed to be on an urgent quest to prevent the world exploding – but I’ve never properly felt so much so that I was taking too long than in Pillars of Eternity 2 and I believe the reason for this is that in other RPG’s, there is a greater focus on the main quest. I think there’s about four or five chunks of it which don’t take much time at all to complete, and you have to spend time levelling up sufficiently inbetween each chunk. The primary reason for this is that the main quest is too short and really spaced out. The grandiose main quest in which you must pursue a rampaging god and discover his plans before it is too late, ended up feeling secondary to everything else going on in the game. Obsidian were obviously proud of the Deadfire.īut I can’t help but feel that such an intense focus on crafting a unique, new world to discover ending up damaging the story. Four different factions battling for its control. A whole new culture unlike the typical medieval fantasy setting.

A sprawling map full of islands which you hop to and from by sea. I remember reading the backer updates and noticing the great stress on how unique and new the Deadfire was going to be, and one can see why. But I’m going to focus specifically on plot and setting which is where is my greatest frustrations lie. Preface 2: I had quite a few minor problems with Pillars 2: odd difficulty, obsolete relationships, rarely utilised skills, etc.

Anyone who spends 46 hours of their free time finishing a game only to complain that they didn’t like it at all is either an idiot or a liar.

Despite it not being quite what I was hoping, I still enjoyed the game. Their performance in Paris against Real Madrid was underwhelming, while needless drop points during the first half of the Premier League campaign ultimately cost them dear, even if they were brilliant in hauling back a superb City side in the New Year.Preface 1: I really enjoyed Pillars of Eternity 1, so much so that I backed the sequel. There will naturally be disappointment that they came up short in the two biggest competitions.

After the struggles of the previous season, Klopp and his side showed remarkable character and quality to regroup and come back stronger. The Verdict:Īll in all, 2021-22 must be viewed in a positive light for Liverpool. Nobody should go to a football match and end up fearing for their safety, or worse. Having witnessed, first-hand, some of the scenes outside the Stade de France, and having heard countless other stories from fans, it is important that this story is not allowed to be brushed under the carpet. The treatment of Liverpool (and Real Madrid) supporters before, during and after the Champions League final was little short of a disgrace, and the response of both UEFA and certain French politicians has made a bad situation worse. Unfortunately, this came in the very last game of an incredible campaign. Had they really wanted to, Klopp’s side could have scored 10. Four up at half-time, five up inside 50 minutes. The Dutchman made more than 50 appearances in all competitions and his form, particularly in the second half of the season, was of the highest quality.

The quadruple may have proven beyond them, but with Klopp having committed his future to the club until at least 2026, optimism should be high at Anfield. There is pride, genuine pride, in what Liverpool have achieved this season, and of the memories and the moments they have provided.
